Essay II should be 3-4 pages, double-spaced, with 12-point Times New Roman font and 1-inch margins. Essay II is due by 11:59pm on 5/5/2020. Students write Essay II to prepare for the debate on 5/7/2020. Essay II should focus on the question, “Should the United States have a more welcoming or more restrictive immigration policy?” Merely taking a stance on this issue is NOT sufficient. Asserting is not the same thing as arguing. You should develop clear and logical arguments with supporting evidence. You should also adequately address counterarguments. The essay and the debate aim to sharpen your critical thinking skills and writing skills.
Late essays will be penalized 10 points (out of 100) for each day of being late. Make sure you provide the proper citation whenever you refer to other’s work (The citation style you should use is Chicago style https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html).
