This writing assignment assesses your ability to perform and draw insights from
internal environment analysis. Please apply the Resource-Based View of the Firm
to complete the analysis of Trader Joe’s internal environment. You should also refer
to the focus questions for further guidance. Your report should be 2-4 pages, double-
spaced. However, it is important to communicate concisely and effectively. I will use
the following rubric in assessing your submission.
While I have provided the focus questions to guide your reading and analysis,
remember that you are writing a report. Again, imagine you are a consultant hired by
a group of investors who have asked you to provide an assessment of Trader Joe’s.
You should not respond in a question/answer format, but rather structure the report in
a way that you feel is cohesive and most effective. Consider strategic use of
organization and headings. Focus questions

developed these?
•How do these resources & capabilities provide competitive advantage
to the firm?
•What are the main threats to Trader Joe’s competitive advantage?
