Application 5: Career and Life Skills Portfolio Artifact and Project Submission

Part 1

The elements of 21st Century Career and Life Skills include flexibility and adaptability, initiative and self-direction, social and cross-cultural skills, productivity and accountability skills, and leadership and responsibility skills. Think back on projects you have participated in, products you have created, and processes you have developed or applied in a school or workplace setting that demonstrate application of 21st century digital literacy skills. Drawing from these experiences, create or describe an “artifact” for inclusion in your 21st Century Resume and Portfolio project. If you have not had experiences in which you applied these skills, imagine a situation in which these skills would be put to use and describe the project, product, or process in detail. Reflect on this year’s Horizon Report for inspiration and ideas.

Assignment length: written 2- to 3- pages.

Note: Instead of submitting a written paper, you may choose to provide your response using a graphic representation, PPT presentation, concept map, audio podcast, video, or other form of media or multimedia.

Prepare a 21stcentury “cover letter” (written, audio, graphic, multimedia, etc.) that will introduce you to this employer, highlight your skills as reflected in your portfolio, and position you as a highly qualified for the 21st century workplace. Be sure to analyze how the 21st century skills your artifacts demonstrate are different from skills needed in the past.

Assignment length: written 2- to 3- pages.

Note: Instead of submitting a written paper, you may choose to provide your response using a graphic representation, PPT presentation, concept map, audio podcast, video, or other form of media or multimedia.
