Corresponding to CNBC News, it is expected that medicines in the United States increase from 4 percent to 7 percent by 2021, this means that prescription drug expenditure would represent a cost of $610 billion dollars to our country. There may be different ways that you as the US law representatives could stop this increase. For example, pharmacists should be able to dispense generics drug to all patients unless their physician requires it the brand drug. Ninety two percent of Americans are in favor of letting the government negotiate lower drug prices. Personally, I agree that you all as senators should take matters in this subject and implement laws or acts that help reduce drug prices, by requiring the FDA to take less time in the drug approval process. Another way the prices can be reduced may be by comparing cost and effectiveness of drugs and research in order to set the right price. Establish a legal system that ensures the importation of medicines from brands from other developed countries which have lower costs than in the United States to increase competition and allow patients to save on their medicines. (Lupkin, S. 2016).
