Production operations management involves individuals that are responsible for the overseeing of production and output processes The supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the organization’s daily activities run effectively and efficiently. The supervisor is responsible for ensuring the needs of the end customer is met. This is done by making sure that inventory levels are maintained and production is running smoothly to meet the needs of the company. Technology plays an important role, in that it aids the supervisor allowing them to be more efficient, more organized and reduce the hours needed to produce reports.

Companies like Apple and Walmart have cornered the marked on production operations management. They have set the example that many organizations aspire to emulate.

I believe that production operations management is the process through which materials of productions, or rather, raw materials and other resources are brought together for transformation or combination, in a system that has protocols and policies to give a value-added finished product. Basically, this includes the systems and subsystems that are put in place to facilitate the process of adding value to the resources of production. Technology has a major role to play in production operations management. In most processes of production, technology is used to convert raw materials to finished products. In others, the process may be manual, but this does not limit the use of technology. In the operations, there is a need for information flow within the systems or subsystems of production. This information is greatly enhanced by information technology systems, and most organizations are using electronic resource planning systems that connect the whole process to enhance efficiency in production operations.

In the process of developing a management plan, both the production and operatons are considered. The operations are the services that will indirectly aid in the production process. I have considered some technologies such as emails and phone calls, but it is clear that the technology can be somehow complex, especially in production of products that take agile development procedures. ERP systems are more uselfull because they facilitate compactibility of the subsystems in the production process.
