Guided Response: Review several of your classmates’ posts and respond to at least two of them. Compare your classmates’ description of students to your own and address any inconsistencies by providing examples to support your own ideas. Ask your classmates to clarify any confusion by providing an illustration or evidence to support their point of view. You might also want to compare the programs in their communities to your own, and discuss any additional reasons that support the lack of a program or the implementation of a program

The four bilingual programs I selected are the mainstream classroom, sheltered classroom Piper, T. (2015) ; dual language programs and content-based integrated and content-based self-contained ellp.ccsd.

The sheltered classroom is for all ELL learners, regardless of native language spoken. All Ell learners are taught in one class with instructions being spoken in English, (Native language instructions, if possible, is given to ELL students) Piper, T. (2015). The teacher will use gestures and visual aids to help the students understand. The purpose of this program is for the ELL student to eventually be mainstreamed into a regular, English only, classroom. This program should be used for students with limited English or limited schooling

The dual language program is where native English speakers and ELL students are in the same classroom. The classroom has two teachers, one that gives instructions in English and the other teacher gives instructions in Spanish ellp.ccsd. This helps the ELL students learn English and the other students learn Spanish. This program should be started in Preschool.

I would be comfortable in a dual language class because all the children will be learning a different language. I would also be learning a different language. The Ell children will feel more comfortable learning English because the English speaking children will be learning Spanish. I think it will make all the students able to learn a different language because they will have their peers help along with their teacher’s help.
