The Theory of Integral Nursing says that when nurses consider the use of an integral elements, they are more likely to expand nurses’ roles in interdisciplinary dialogues and to explore commonalities and to examine differences and how to address these across disciplines (Stanhope & Lancaster, 2016). Our challenge in nursing is to increase our integral awareness as we increase our nursing capacities, strengths, and voices in all areas of practice, education, research, and healthcare policy.

Essential VII is important in enhancing the nurse’s understanding the components of interprofessional, establish respectful communication, enhance shared values and goals, and follow through with tasks.  Essential VIII, Clinical Prevention and Population Health for Improving Health, touches upon the importance of learning about culture competence, diversity, and respect for all individuals to improve patient outcomes.  Essential VIII guides nurses into a deeper understanding of human interactions to establish mutual respect, which is needed to prevent diseases and conditions and to enhance the overall population health.  Essential IX, Master’s-Level Nursing Practice, culminates all that has been previously outlined in an effort to integrate important components into professional nursing practice.  The last essential serves as a summarization to what a comprehensive Master’s nursing program should be comprised of and prepares the nurse for higher level education.
